Theatre includes: This marks Michael's UK debut. He originated the role of Gollum in the Toronto production of The Lord of the Rings (Dora Mavor Moore Award for Best Actor). He also won a Dora Mavor Moore Award for his portrayal of Leo Bloom in The Producers (Toronto). Other theatre includes: Motel in Fiddler on the Roof (Broadway) and more than 20 productions with the Stratford Festival of Canada, including Henry VI in Shakespeare's Henry VI series, Aguecheek in Twelfth Night, Konstantin in The Seagull, Lord Alfred Douglas in the one-man show Oscar Remembered and Ariel in The Tempest.
Television includes: most recently, Harry Vincent in The Englishman's Boy and political leader Tommy Douglas in the mini-series Prairie Giant: The Tommy Douglas Story (Seoul Drama Award for Best Actor, Gemini Nomination for Best Actor).
